Wisdom teeth removal- pain management?
The dentist will make sure that your whole mouth is completely numb with the local anesthetic he uses. I'm surprised that you aren't having N20 along with this procedure, but it's not uncommon. Some people just don't like it or get the effects from it, usually the mouth breathers are the one who don't feel it. Keep in mind that the wisdom teeth are the smallest rooted teeth in the whole mouth and yours are probably not completely formed yet. It seems to help patients feel better knowing that. I am assuming that you are young with so many coming out at once, I'm guessing braces are next on your agenda. Anyway, after you are finished the dentist will prescribe a pain medication for you to take. You should get this filled immediately and take one before the anesthetic wears off. About 2 hours later take 600 mg of Advil or Motrin to help ease the pain and reduce the swelling. Take this separately to keep from upsetting your stomach and it helps to prolong and intensify the pain medication. Just remember to take it the first day as directed along with the Motrin or Advil to keep the pain at a minimum. You will be groggy from the medication and should take it easy for the first day or so. Just follow the dentist instructions and you'll be fine. Stock up on soups, ice cream, popsicles and such for afterward. I hope that I've been of some help and good luck with your surgery.
Reply:Your crazy. They will only give you a local that will numb the affected area. I just had 2 teeth out (1 was a wisdom that had to be cut out) and I wouldn't do it any other way but knocked out. You sure have balls.
Reply:i just had my wisdom teeth romoved trust me you want to be put to sleep. it will be so much better if you do i didnt have hardly any pain. the pain killers they gave me were so good
Reply:See a dentist!
