Wisdom teeth removal pain question?

Its been 7 days since I've had two wisdom teeth removed (bottom was impacted). There is still a throbbing pain near the lower extraction site. Normal tylenol controls that pretty well.

My question -- is it normal to have pain a week after removal?

I'm not looking for diagnoses. This is not an infection or dry socket.

Wisdom teeth removal pain question?
I think everyone is a little different, but I can remember when I had mine taken out they had to be surgically removed and I didn't ever have much pain. But my sister's were just a normal removal and she was on codine for two weeks. So I wouldn't worry to much about it as long as you know it isn't a dry socket! If it really worries you, you can always call your dentist and ask.
Reply:Yes. It's normal. You had 2 teeth removed. Wait another few days, if you don't see improvement, check it out. g'luck.
Reply:You may have food stuck in there. Did they give you an irrigation syringe to keep it clean? That really helps, and ibuprofen for swelling.
Reply:i had pain a month after removal but i also had dry soccets and 2 infections
Reply:Yes, I had my two lower wisdom teeth removed. You should expect anywhere from 7 to 10 days of pain.
Reply:I don't think it's normal to have that much pain a week after removal. I think you need to ask the dentist if all is okay. It couldn't hurt, could it?
Reply:You most likely have "dry socket"

i had this with one side of my lower wisdom teeth when they were pulled, the pain was unbearable.

pain is supposed to subside after the 4th day.

go to your doctor.
Reply:the pain should get better with time.

it's just that the roots on a wisdom tooth are huge and since yours were impacted they probably had a hell of a time removing them. try icing your jaw and continue with the tylenol and give it another week or so.
Reply:I noticed that it had been a week since my wisdom teeth had been extracted and any time I tried to do something strenuous (push ups in P.E. or lifting something heavy) the extraction site would hurt again!

So yes, it's normal.

Take it easy for a while!
