Wisdom teeth removal- pain management?

i have to get 4 wisdom teeth cut out plus 2 other teeth.i am not going to be put to sleep or take the gas,what will i be given to ease the pain

They will give you a choice of pain medication. Take a strong one.

Reply:they will probably give you local anesthetic. when i had my wisdom teeth pulled, i was put to sleep. after the procedure the dentist should give you prescriptions for pain killers. that's what happened to me.
Reply:Well, I don't know about doing it without being knocked out. They could inject something around the teeth do numb it, but I'm not sure if they could numb it enough for my satisfaction.





I had all four wisdom teeth out at once, and I was put to sleep. It was great. Even afterwards, I was given a prescription for Tylenol #3, but never needed to take one. I just had a dull ache for a day or so. I was pretty surprised.

Reply:Dude, they numb you with novacaine. I have had the same thing done. As far as post-procedure pain management, just ask lots of Qs about avoiding dry socket, which can flat kill you with pain. -- But it's usually very avoidable. Just ASK.
Reply:not sure what you will be given, I had 4 removed - wasn't completely out, but had enough demerol in me that I don't remember anything. Was given vicoden, but luckily enough didn't need it.
