ok i got braces today...and my teeth are hurting bad...for some reason especially my front 4....they almost feel loose but they aren%26#039;t...what is up with that...oh and how long after they get put on can u expect lots of pain
Braces teeth pain?
it%26#039;ll take some time to get used to them. trust me. that feeling you have should subside within a month, give or take some days. it%26#039;s cuz your teeth are being moved. so anyways, for a couple weeks, start off by eating stuff that you don%26#039;t have to chew much and gradually go up to foods that you can chew. that%26#039;ll give your teeth time to adjust to the pressure of the braces and chewing. also do this everytime they tighten the braces (they do this so you%26#039;re teeth straightening will progress). trust me, i%26#039;ve gone through that not too long ago. so again, just give it time and that feeling will subside.
also, you%26#039;re teeth won%26#039;t really hurt on their own. it%26#039;s just when they meet when you talk or chew. i don%26#039;t really know why, they just do. (i had a lisp for a while when i had my braces! haha!) but again, like with the food, it just takes time to get used to. after first getting braces, you%26#039;re teeth will be pressured, and talking/chewing makes it feel worse, and that%26#039;s the pain you will feel. but don%26#039;t worry. the pain isn%26#039;t %26quot;coma-inducing%26quot;. you%26#039;ll be able to withstand it (unless you can%26#039;t tolerate pain at all).
Reply:you will feel sore for about a week , maybe longer since you jus tgot them. it will progressively get better though.
Reply:they feel like that because you just got that and your teeth are moving!
Reply:Like a week at first. But it will get better.
Some advice. Wear your retainer... you will regret it if you dont.
Braces are the best thing that happened to me. So the pain was worth it.
Reply:I never got pain. :)
Honestly, I miss my braces.
They should only last about a week/couple days
Gradually getting less painful.
Reply:I remember that pain! Your teeth will hurt for a few days each time you go to the orthodontist. A painkiller, like Advil, really helps.
Reply:From my experience, braces always hurt the worst during the first week or 2. This is when you start to get used to this outside pressure on your teeth. After that, it doesn%26#039;t get worse, but you do get periodic tightenings, which is less painful than the first week. Hope your teeth turn out nice and even!
Reply:Take advil or motrin every 4 to 6 hours, it really helps alot! The pain will be bad for about 2 days.. and then each time you go back for an adjustment, I recommend taking the ibuprofen before you go to the orthodontist, that way you have nipped the pain before you get it..
dont%26#039; worry.. you will survive.. those teeth hurt because they are moving so you have a super smile someday soon.
Keep smiling and don%26#039;t forget to floss.. now that is a pain!
Reply:Probably for the next 1-2 days you%26#039;ll feel pain. Its like that every time you get them tightened. My advice is to take one or two advils right BEFORE you go to orthodontist, then by the time your done the pain will be less severe. Just stick it out kid and just picture yourself in like 5 years (probably less) with a nice set of pearly whites!!
Reply:take some tylonel or other type of painkiller. eat soft stuff (like smoothies, etc)
braces should hurt for about a week or 2 after u get them. i had braces for a while. I HATED THEM!! they would make these small adjustments and my teeth would hurt bad.
Reply:your teeth are loose your braces are forcibly moving them...
hurting is good it means there is progress... it will go away in about a week until then eat foods that don%26#039;t require chewing
no pain no gain
Reply:its normal cause youre not used to it. give it a week or two
Reply:well, i usually had pain the first few days after each appointment that the orthodontist tightened them. take same tylenol and only drink milkshakes or smoothies right after. i know the pain; it%26#039;s sore and throbbing! but it will all be worth it in the end! :)
Reply:I had braces for 5 years and I hated going to the orthdontist for them to tighten them up. Your teeth hurt because they are being forced to move to where they need to be. I would eat soup as the pain can be real intense and took advil for the pain. Wait till the start putting in the elastics that go from the front of your mouth to the back . It hurts something fierce. The pain should subside in a couple of days to a slight pressure and nothing at all in a week.
Reply:Ok, you%26#039;re taking this one from a pro. I%26#039;ve been in these badboys for 9 years...more time in them that out of them (in my whole life...it%26#039;s sad. My teeth aren%26#039;t crooked, I just grow so dang fast.)
It%26#039;s really not that bad. It%26#039;s pretty intense pain for a day or two...and then moderate pain on the third or fourth day, and on the fifth day it%26#039;s usually fine. I suggest eating soft foods for your meals (applesauce, pasta, etc.) You won%26#039;t be able to eat anything hard those first few days.
You can expect this cycle after you get your braces re-tightened too.
Reply:i have braces now..and i remember when i first got them i had the same loose feeling....its b/c the braces are casing ur teeth to shift and move so it can be straight...it feels tight in between ur teeth but loose altogther...dont worry this is normal and it happenes to everyone...it will be ok after 2 to 3 days ..a week at the most...for the first time u get braces.. the pain that is,,,
for me it was 2 days...and slowly i was able to eat normal again...u know if u cant eat normally if u try to bite ur fingertip and it hurts like hell...sry abt the rambling...but i hopee this helped. after a while when u get used to the braces.. it wont bother u at all..u may get a tight or loose feeling everytime u go and get ur braces tightened..
Reply:It%26#039;s the feeling of your teeth being moved and tight that is making your front four teeth feel loose.
The extreme pain should end in about three days, but it will continue to bother you for a week or two. Then, you%26#039;ll probably get used to the feeling of braces. :) Hope you feel better.
Reply:The pain can last quite a while for some people. My sister got them the day before Thanksgiving...haha, pretty not cool seeing as she couldn%26#039;t eat. They do hurt though, from what I hear, I haven%26#039;t gotten them yet but am getting them over spring break...ah!
Reply:its natural for braces to hurt for the first week or so. It will go away soon, but for the pain drink really cold water as often as you can. i think it kinda numbs your mouth a bit. I really dunno, but it works.
If the pain is really bad then try panadol or nuerofen.
Reply:mine only hurt for 2 days.... try to eat some mashed potatoes or mushy things... no gum or anything... try PBhttp://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...
Reply:Ohhhhh man... I remember that pain. I feel for ya. It will be pretty sore for the first few days, but you will get used to it. I know that%26#039;s a weird thing to say, but the idea of braces is to move your teeth, so they are kind of moving all the time. You get used to it, don%26#039;t worry. Take some tylenol, and if the pain doesn%26#039;t at least lessen after a few days, call the orthodontist and ask if maybe it should still be that bad or if they can prescribe some painkillers.
Good luck!
Reply:they feel loose because they are getting pulled to another position. i rember when i had them the first month the pain was horrible. but after the pain was hardly noticeable. so you well get used to it.
Reply:i give it a week and make sure to take pain killers, the pain will go away thoug and once you get them off you will look sooooo fine. like i had my in seven grade and got them off at the end of seventh and i got so many complaments, like the guys with fall in love with you. ahah it worked for me.but seriously teeth are a main attraction.
Reply:u shouldnt hav pain too long if it really hurts take advil i know it kinda sucks but think how great ur teeth will look after lol
Reply:It will be sore/uncomfortable for the next 3 days or so. Take some Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Chew gum to help relieve the soreness. I%26#039;ve had braces on for about 7 months now and everytime it gets tightened (monthly), it gets sore for about 2-3 days
Reply:because the braces is a new thing for your teeth and they are putting pressure on them, you fill feel sore and it might be quite painful depending on the condition of your teeth. so for two or three days, don%26#039;t eat stick foods like caramel or hard foods like chips because it might hurt a bit. so you might want to switch to softer foods like cereal with milk, and puddings, and such.
Reply:your teeth are hurting cus they r moving
your not used to it so its weird
and you can expect lots of pain if you dont take pain killers
XD
but eventually you will get used to it
and it will be so normal that when you get them off it feels just as weird as when you got them put on
Reply:a week but it should stop in a week:}
Reply:After each adjustment you should expect 2 or 3 days of tenderness. The first day obviously will be the worst. Take some Motrin and eat softer foods. I don%26#039;t have the most fond memories of the pain involved. But it wasn%26#039;t drastic. It was more of a dull aching. But I am glad I got it done. As an adult, I know for certain how much of an impact your teeth can have. First impressions last for a long time. And a nice smile helps a lot. You%26#039;ll get through it. Just take the proper amount of pain killer recomended on the bottle and don%26#039;t think about it.
Reply:urg i know what you mean! I got my braces on like 6 months ago. The first week they are sore and its hard to eat but like after a week or two they really don%26#039;t hurt. You get used to them ,and then when you have to get them tightened they are a little sore for a couple days. Ya and when I first got mine it felt like my teeth were like gonna fall out. its normal.
But ya braces suck!!!!
Reply:they feel loose because your teeth are moving when that first happened to me it scared me but then my orthodontist explained it to me and with the how long to expect pain it really differs between people and what kind of braces you have like my friend connor his hurt for like a week and a half but mine only hurt for barely 2 days like i said it just depends on your orthodontist, the kind of brackets and wires he uses, etc.

Sinusitis (teeth pain)?
i have the sinusitis problem and a few weeks ago pain in my teeth start does it come from the sinusitis, cause dentist said i have nothing... please help!!!!!
Sinusitis (teeth pain)?
It is a sinus problem if they bother you and the teeth checked out fine.See an ENT specialist
Reply:Unfortunately, yes...bad sinuses can cause teeth pain...your top teeth are sometimes connected to a sinus or sinuses...
You should be put on an antibiotic for the infected sinus....taking motrin or ibuprofen will also help...
Meanwhile, try to find a different dentist.
Reply:When my sinuses get inflamed...my teeth hurt. From the dentists point of view...there is nothing wrong.
See an allergist.
Reply:the roots of the upper molars some times are in the maxillary sinus. If you have sinusitis, your teeth can pain, refereed pain. Dont get your tooth removed or treated, treat the cause which is the sinus.

Wisdom teeth pain from removal?
Went to the dentist today and they said I need oral surgery to remove my wisdom teeth. I wanted to know how bad is pain? How long would I have to take off from school/work? What can/can%26#039;t I eat? How long does it take to recovery? Any other necessary things I need to know??

Wisdom teeth pain from removal?
The amount of pain that you feel varies based on how impacted the teeth are (that is, how far they have emerged from the gum tissue), how smoothly the surgery goes, and your general reaction to anesthesia.
My best advice is to ask to be put under for the surgery. My oral surgeon gave me numbing pads so that I didn%26#039;t even feel the insertion of the needle in my arm. He also gave me laughing gas to calm me down, and before I knew it, I was waking up from the surgery.
My advice would be to ask your oral surgeon to include a few drips of Gravol in your IV during the surgery. I find that this greatly reduces any nausea that you may feel from the anesthesia and/or blood in your mouth. It is also important that you fast, as recommended by your oral surgeon, before the surgery, as this will ensure that your stomach is empty. Get plenty of rest the night before and try to book a morning appointment so that you do not get a headache before surgery from fasting all day.
I did not feel significant pain at all after my extraction, despite my tooth being impacted and surrounded by a cyst. I am allergic to codeine and demerol (two commonly prescribed pain relievers), so my doctor gave me a prescription for Motrin. When you first get home, you may feel perfectly fine - no pain at all - as many oral surgeons inject local anesthetic at the site of the extraction. It is VERY important to begin taking your medication right away, as this will give you a head-start for when the freezing begins to wear off.
Your first day will be spent mostly sleeping off the anesthetic. It is important to change the gauze and alternate cool/warm compresses as your doctor recommends. I found that resting with your head slightly elevated from the rest of your body helps to slow the bleeding. Also, breathing through your nose causes you to generate less saliva, thus slowing the bleeding even more.
I was fully recovered from my procedure within three days. I had my surgery on a Friday morning and returned to school with no problems on Monday morning. If anything, I found that the stitches were inconvenient and the swelling was unpleasant. My cheeks were very sensitive to the touch and I had noticeable yellow bruising around my lower jaw (nothing that a little liquid make-up can%26#039;t cover though!). I did not experience any sort of extreme pain, other than when one of the sites became infected...but that%26#039;s a whole other story, and very unlikely to happen to you if you avoid getting any debris at the extraction site and gurggle often with salt water.
Foods that I found worked great (...some of these may sound bizarre):
- soup (mostly broth for the first day, soft veggies/noodles on the second, third, etc.)
- jello
- pudding
- applesauce
- yogurt (no fruits with seeds - these can easily sneak into the extraction site)
- mashed potatoes
- donuts/timbits (For some reason, I found that Krispy Kremes were the best, as they almost melted in my mouth.)
- soft cooked veggies (carrots work great)
- pasta salads (noodles slide right down your throat)
* NOTHING can be HOT or COLD. Everything you consume must be at room temperature.
* NOTHING can be consumed through a straw.
* AVOID dry, crumbly foods that do not stay contained in your mouth - i.e. crackers, chips, etc.
Other things to remember:
- DO NOT brush near the extraction site.
- DO NOT swirl liquids violently around your mouth or spit with force. This can upset the blood clots.
- DO NOT consume any COLD or WARM foods. Everything must be at room temperature.
- DO NOT drink through a straw. This can also upset the clots.
- DO NOT fiddle with the stitches with your tongue - although I know it%26#039;s tempting! They are disolvable and will begin coming out (painlessly!) anywhere from the fourth day after the surgery to nearly two weeks after. Be patient!
- DO gurggle with salt water starting around your second or third day. This prevents infection. Your oral surgeon may also give you a syringe to squirt Luke-warm water at the site. This is very helpful in preventing infections and removing debris as well.
Anyhow, hope that gives you an idea of what to expect, at least the basics anyway! It%26#039;s important to be comfortable with your oral surgeon so that you can ask him/her about any of your concerns beforehand. The oral surgeon may also provide you with some pamphlets to read up on.
Just remember to keep a positive attitude. Having been through several oral surgeries, I know that being positive helps your recovery immensely! Know that many other young adults sympathize, but have also survived the experience. Best of luck - I%26#039;m sure you%26#039;ll come through it just fine :D
Reply:well, im sorry to say that it does hurt. the procedure itself doesnt hurt...but the after affect hurts about as much as pinching your hand in a door. that lasts for about 10 minutes...and comes every so hours. you probably want to take off for a week-2weeks depending on how long you take to recover. only eat foods like soups and icecream at all times. last thing you may want to know is to buy plenty of popsicles. they really do the trick.
Reply:Everyone has a differant experience. Two of my teeth were not quite ready to come out and two were- so all of them were pulled. It was painful. I had black eyes- but it was only because they had to really struggle to get two of them out. So if yours are ready- it shouldn%26#039;t be that bad. Plan on soft foods- mashed potatoes, pudding, soup, stuff like that. And DO NOT drink out of a straw or smoke. I made that mistake and the pain from a dry socket was not fun! You should have it done on a Friday and you should be good to go on Monday. Good luck!
Reply:i have had mine removed. they made me take a week off rom work school. i could only eat liquid foods , mashed potatoes, ice cream, pudding, soup broths, etc... no hard foods for a while. they gave me the dissolving stitches so i wouldnt have to go back in to get them pulled out.
they put me to sleep, and i didnt feel a thing, they gave me pain killers , but i only used them when i got back from surgery, after that it didnt bother me enough to take them .
also DONT eat popcorn... i had pop corn like 2 weeks after i could start eating solid foods and still a lil piece of pop corn got stuck in a fold that hadnt healed properly then it was stuck , THAT HURT... other than that just rest take your meds if needed and only eat and drink liquids.. .
Reply:It doesn%26#039;t really hurt when it is being done because of the anesthetics, you can just feel the pressure on your teeth. When the anesthetics wear off it will begin to ache quite a bit but just take something like Advil and you should be able to deal with it. Maybe take 1-2 days off work if you are in a lot of pain. Good luck!
Reply:Take a week off from school %26amp; work. The narcotics the dentist prescribed for me made me sick as a dog. 800mg ibuprofen works perfectly, IF you%26#039;re no longer bleeding.

Wisdom teeth pain!?
hey im a 17 year old girl, i have been getting my wisdom teeth now for about a week or two, im getting my upper left and my lower left but the upper one is killing me! any1 have any ideas on how 2 rid the pain : (
Wisdom teeth pain!?
If they are breaking through the skin you might want to get some bubble gum (not minty gum, but the big stuff that turns hard after you chew it a while) - and keep chewing it on your teeth till they break through....it%26#039;s like a baby and a teething ring. you can also get the ambusol that%26#039;s made for children teething and put it on your gums while they hurt.... it hurts now, but once they are all the way through it shouldn%26#039;t be so bad.
Unless you need them removed because they are pushing your other teeth...then you need to go to the dentist and have them out.
Reply:Get it pulled as soon as you can the longer you wait the more it is going to hurt.
Reply:get them pulled out girl!!!!!
Reply:hey, maybe that is why my jaw is killing me ... in 17 too ... i think im gettin the bottom left one in
but i take 2 asprin in the morning and then about noon take 3 ibuproferins and about 4 or 5 take 3 more =)
you%26#039;ll be set for hours of pain free lovely-ness

Reply:get some orajel . . . but you could always get the doctor to remove them if the pain doesn%26#039;t go away
Reply:You could have the same problem I did with my uppers. If they are only partially through the skin food and drink get under the gum line and rots out the back of the tooth that you can not get to to brush.
Go get them pulled. At least the uppers if they are bothering you. It is not that bad and you will feel SO much better.
If you did have what I did and you let it go it will get infected and infect your jaw which will hurt a thousand times worse!
BTW, if the regular oragel stuff doesn%26#039;t work....I know it sounds bad....but go to your local adult store....well send someone in for you...and have them buy a tube of strawberry anal eze. It is the same thing as oragel only ten times stronger. My dentists sent me in for it until he could set up an appointment to pull them. It worked wonders!
Reply:you can apply heat or cold to your cheek, i would say take IB more so that Tylenol. I don%26#039;t know about the chewing, but if they are impacted, even if they make it throught the gum line, you will have to have them pulled. You should see a dentist if the pain doesn%26#039;t stop. He can x-ray and send you to a surgen if you need them removed. If you don%26#039;t have dental insurance, don%26#039;t worry the surgery will be filed under health ins. as long as they are impacted.
Reply:READ the section in the book at the bottom.
Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.
Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.
The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).
For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

Does grinding your teeth lead to tooth pain? Why?
I recently went to the dentist and he found two cavities. They weren%26#039;t, however, in the teeth that were bothering me when I went in. I%26#039;m having pain in the left side of my mouth. I%26#039;ve recently acquired the nasty habit of grinding my teeth. Could this possibly be what%26#039;s making my teeth hurt? Any suggestions on how to stop? (I know that%26#039;s alot of questions; thanks in advance.)
Does grinding your teeth lead to tooth pain? Why?
The grinding of teeth causes pain because:
1) it chips tiny little pieces of tooth off and that makes the tooth more sensitive.
2) it puts little microscopic cracks into the tooth and that makes the tooth more sensitive.
3) it %26quot;rocks%26quot; the tooth back and forth in it%26#039;s socket. This really irritates the nerve coming out the end of the tooth and also irritates the tissue holding the tooth in place.
So, go to your dentist and have a night guard made. It should be smooth and hard. It won%26#039;t keep you from grinding, but will keep you from doing damage. DO NOT buy one at the drugstore. They are soft. The teeth do not slide easily. They do not stop damage to the teeth, AND they cause damage to the TMJ, (temporal mandibular joint), and you do not want to go there! If you damage your TMJ you are in for a lifetime of problems!!
Reply:The constant rubbing of the teeth causes it to sort of %26quot;erode%26quot;.
Below is a link with ways to stop grinding.
Reply:Yes, a mouth guard from the drugstore or from ur dentist. It stops the teeth from making contact. Grinding chips, wears down ur teeth and moves ur teeth, causing damage. U hurt because u are exerting so much energy rubbing ur teeth back and forth during the night that ur jaw muscles are sore. Get a mouthguard. It%26#039;ll stop the friction and plus May retrain urself to stop.
Reply:it will where down your teeth making them weak and lose if you do it to much

Wisdom Teeth Pain?
I%26#039;m starting to grow wisdom teeth. What%26#039;s the best way to stop the pain in my mouth?
Wisdom Teeth Pain?
well if I were you I would set an appoint to an oral surgeon ASAP to get them removed. the longer they are in there the more damage it MAY cause later on. Crowding of teeth... bleeding of gum causing infection... plus its easier to remove when they havn%26#039;t punctured through the gums. Cost me about 2k to have them all removed I think... probably less but I forgot. It was a pretty penny but you get to keep the teeth to put under the pillow lol. maybe the tooth fairy will compensate. but yea, earlier out better
it hurts too :( good luck
Reply:Ambesol works really well. Get the adult strength because the one made for kids is pretty week. Are you 21 or older? If so you may be ready to get them removed already. I didn%26#039;t get mine out until I was 27, but mine grew slow and my dentist didn%26#039;t want to take them until they hit nerves. So when the wisdom headaches started he pulled them. If you have dental insurance go get an xray..if you don%26#039;t have any an xray shouldn%26#039;t be more than $60 and is worth the money.

Wisdom teeth pain during pregnancy?
I woke up yesterday in EXTREME pain. I called today and I go to see the dentist tomorrow... the problem is, I don%26#039;t know what they can do for me that I haven%26#039;t done already (extra strength tylenol, ice, orajel...).... the problem is my wisdom teeth are trying to come in, but there isn%26#039;t enough room in my jaw. I know I%26#039;ll need to have them pulled, but I also know they can%26#039;t do that while I%26#039;m pregnant.... anyone know what the dentist might do? Anyone have advice for some temporary pain relief?
Wisdom teeth pain during pregnancy?
I think if it%26#039;s causing that many problems it would be healthier to get it removed but there are many bacterial infections the baby can get from it. Dont take the IBprofen that often!

I recently had my widom teeth taken out and my jaw hurts a lot. They gave me dese capsules for pain, but I have dis %26quot;Pharmacophobia%26quot; meaning i can%26#039;t take any pills unless i crush them.... Is there anyway else i can cure da pain.?

Crush the pills and mix with a drink.
Reply:I would crush the pills, doh!
well, you could give them to me. . . . . . .
And suck on Lipton Tea bags, helps with blood clotting.
Sleep 11-12 hours, more pills, another tea bag(s).
I remember doing that with mine.
Reply:you will have to wait until you heal then. My aunt has a fear of pills as well and needs to crush them. Try what she does, get the pill as fine as you can and mix it in to a pb%26amp;j sandwich. It should be easy to chew considering you had your wisdom teeth taken out. Or try disolving the crushed pill in a drink. It will taste like crap! But it will help relieve the pain.

Wisdom Teeth Pain?
I am having terrible, TERRIBLE pain in my wisdom teeth. I%26#039;ve tried Aleve, Advil and Tylenol, none of which had any effect. I%26#039;ve read that cloves help numb pain. Do you use cloves or clove oil - if it is the oil, where in a pharmacy would this be located? Does anybody else have any remedies that I can use until I get these darn things out?

Go buy those teething tablet that you use for baby%26#039;s when they are teething and let like 4 dissolve under you tounge they really work I promise I used them for my wisdom teeth. You will have to take more every 2 or so hours but it works.
Reply:anbesol works
Reply:Some things that I have tried that work in small doses.
Rinsing with Listerine four about 10 minutes.
Biting on the actual cloves (found in the spice ailse of a grocery store)
Taking 1 advil, 1 aleve, and two tablespoons of plain nyquil, if anything it should make you drowsy enough to get sleep. It usually takes about 1/2 hour - 45 minutes to kick in though. (Don%26#039;t do this more than every 4-6 hours though)
Another thing is taking two tylenol with a two shots of liquor (if you are 21)
Good Luck!!

Earache, teeth pain, AND a sore throat?!?!?!?
So i woke up around 6 this morning in aganizing pain, my throat hurt, as well as my teeth and i experienced the worst earache of my life! Since this morning, my sore throat is gone, teeth arent that bad an my ear still hurts but not as bad as this morning. I have a couple cavities so could that be why I have a ear ache??? I dont think it explains the sore throat? What could cause all these?!
Earache, teeth pain, AND a sore throat?!?!?!?
If you haven%26#039;t had your wisdom teeth out, this could be a sign that they are coming in. I had a horrible cold and was very sick for about a month last year, months before I had mine out. They can mess with your body and cause infections, making you sick. Also, a regular sinus infection can cause ear, mouth, and throat pain. Your sinuses are connected to your ears and throat. The pain can radiate out into other areas, causing incredible discomfort. Try a sinus medication for congestion and see if that helps.

Wisdom teeth pain?
I am pretty sure my wisdom teeth are growing in, in the back back of my mouth i see like a little white thing poking up in the back. I am really only sore on one side of my face, which I find very strange. The pain feels like a constant ear ache, sore throat, and such. Are the symptoms normal?
Anything I can do to help the pain..?
Wisdom teeth pain?
Your symptoms are very normal. When mine were coming through, i had shoulder and back pain as well. Try and not eat on that side of your mouth and go see the doctor, they can supply you with some painkillers.
Reply:Take some ibuprofen and use an ice pack and see your dentist to make sure they are coming in properly.
Reply:That is what it felt like for me when my wisdom teeth started to come though.
Pop a pain killer.
Reply:I have had lots of widsom teeth pain, I would recommend taking advil liquid gel pills they help alot. But you should go to the dentist to make sure that you don%26#039;t need to have them removed. Good Luck
Reply:go to the dentist and have him get you to a oral surgen for removel of thewisdom teeth

Please help, wisdom teeth, pain!!?
i%26#039;m 14 years old and my parents think my wisdom teeth are coming in. anyway, i think the bar behind my back teeth is loose too. anyway, we cant get me into the dentist till monday, maybe not even till friday. but i cant stand the pain anylonger. i%26#039;m about ready to ask my parents to take me to the ER so then can give me som pain meds or somthing. i%26#039;ve taken tylanol and advil and neither has worked. please, what can i do to get rid of the pain?
Please help, wisdom teeth, pain!!?
The third molars usually erupt from 17 to 23 years of age. You are a little young for this, but it not impossible. Are you in ortho? You mentioned a bar being loose, if part of your orthodontic appliance is loose, then this is most likely the cause of your discomfort.
Dental discomfort is usually best relieved with Advil or Motrin 400-600mg. These anti-inflammatory medications work to reduce swelling which is the major cause of dental pain.
The ER will just refer you to your dentist or orthodontist for treatment. If you are having this much discomfort call your dentist or orthodontist office, they have an emergency number or an answering service. The dentist or orthodontist will see you on the weekend for emergency problems.
Additional information: If your parents 3rd molars didn%26#039;t erupt until they were in their 30%26#039;s, then genetically you are predisposition to have yours erupt later also. You probably are experiencing some pain from these teeth developing from their bud stage. Try not to chew anything hard, crunchy or any tough foods for a few days and continue taking Advil or Motrin for pain. You don%26#039;t want to over stress your jaw area during this growth period either. You can try using moist hot compresses or ice packs placed on your jaw area, which ever one relieves the pain and feels better to you right now. Within a few days you should be feeling relief.
Reply:i%26#039;ve been through that, and yeah its painful. but it%26#039;s normal. its just another tooth growing in. and since its growing, it%26#039;ll be pushing your teeth resulting in your bracket to feel loose. i think you should get your teeth checked out and see how soon you can get your wisdom tooth removed because the longer you wait, the worse the impact would be. ( because all those years of braces you deff. dont want it to go to waste. ) the procedure is about an hour long. but yeah, take some ibuprofen. you can get that at your local pharmacist. make sure to wait 6 - 8 hours before you take any more of that !
Reply:my dentisit said to take 2 tylenol or ibeproffine a day until the pain goes. He also said to apply heat or ice around the mouth
Reply:until you can get some professional help...use adult straighth ora jel.....helps numb the area
Reply:i would use oralgel or a tooth numbing medication that is over the counter, also if you put a wash cloth in the dryer then put it on your cheek that the pain is on, the warmth of the towel will help.
Reply:Your dentist should be covered for emergencies. Fourteen is a bit early for your wisdom teeth to be coming in.
You should be looked at by your dentist.

Reply:if there is a clinic or somewhere you can go that doesn%26#039;t charge much, get some antibiotics and the pain should stop for now....some place, like where i live, have something called a compassion clinic at a church to help people without insurance...some of them even have a dentist, but they have doctors and there%26#039;s no charge
you might call dhs or the health department and ask them if they know of any places...good luck
Reply:Clove oil, or whole cloves that you can bite may help, but generally, if you%26#039;re taking pain medicine like tylenol and not feeling any better, you have an infection which will need to be treated with anti-biotics or root canal, or extraction. Don%26#039;t mess around with tooth aches, an infection could possibly be deadly, worse case scenario. There%26#039;s likely a clinic where you are, or even go to the dentist, tell them you don%26#039;t have insurance and want the cheapest treatment and want to make payments.
Reply:if you leave it it will get worse and ya could get anabcess which would spread and infect other teeth and you%26#039;d have to get them out too.which nearly happened to me-all because of my fear of the dentist!
Reply:Go have the tooth pulled. There are many dentists who have credit plans so you can pay monthly.

Teeth pain - adenoviruses and enteroviruses- sore throat beginning of tonsilitis?
I got sore throat and i belive it is a beginning of tonsilitis, during the night i got increased temperature and terrible teeth pain, also back pain etc. I went to doctor today and he prescribled me decongestant, dicloflex and paracetamol , but why my treeth are so paiful even after 1000mg of paracetamol ?
Teeth pain - adenoviruses and enteroviruses- sore throat beginning of tonsilitis?
It could be referral pain from sinuses. I%26#039;ve seen raging toothaches due to congested sinuses, when there is absolutely nothing wrong with the teeth themselves. Keep taking the decongestant and also get yourself a saline nasal spray to use. You can also try a face bath with some Vicks dissolved in hot water. Cover your head with a towel and take some good deep breaths.

Teeth pain when drinking cold water?
There is pain on one side of upper and lower teeth when cold water is being drunk. There is no lack of hygienic care of teeth like brushing twice daily. I don%26#039;t think it is a sign of gingivitis. What could be the problem? Greatly appreciate if you could advice.
Teeth pain when drinking cold water?
Everyone%26#039;s teeth are sensitive to a certain extent. I don%26#039;t think you should be worried. Using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth is great advice. If this continues for at least a week, consider this:
Usually tooth sensitivity (dentin hypersensitivity) presents as temporary tooth discomfort or pain after eating cold food, drinking cold liquids, or breathing cold air. ( If the pain is very high in intensity and prolonged, see your dentist because this may be a sign of an unhealthy tooth nerve )The key to preventing tooth sensitivity is to keep the gums from receding. Reducing the pressure we use to brush our teeth helps tremendously. The problem with this is that our tooth brushing is an unconsciously ingrained habit reinforced after decades of brushing and therefore nearly impossible to change. I advise people to use an advanced electric toothbrushes (plaque remover) like the Braun 3D Excel or Sonicare. These toothbrushes feature pressure sensors that stop the brush when you apply too much pressure
Reply:You may just be developing a sensitivity to cold. Use a toothpaste specifically for sensitive teeth and see if it helps within a week or two.
Reply:Sensitive teeth. An enamaul covering would help.
Reply:Many people simply have teeth which are sensitive to cold. Try Sensodyne toothpaste it is made to reduce the sensitivity of teeth to cold beverages.
Reply:You probably have sensitive teeth. Try Sensodyne and a toothbrush with soft bristles.
Reply:Don%26#039;t drink cold water, your teeth may be sensitive.
Reply:You could have sensitive teeth. Try brushing with Sensodyne F toothpaste. If that doesn%26#039;t help, see your dentist
Reply:Try sensodine toothpaste! Its rad!
Reply:Try Sensodine Toothpaste is really works good for sensitive teeth
Reply:I can tell you that I have been whitening my teeth and my teeth are very sensitive to cold. You can use Sensodyne. You may also need a Flouride treatment. At times, Cold sensitivity is an indication of decay and you may need a filling. See your dentist.
Reply:Is the sensitivity on the opposite side of your dominant hand? Alot of people who are fastidious about their oral hygiene tend to over brush on one side of the mouth. They brush too hard on one side as they can get the whole arm movement happening. This leads to abrasion of the teeth near the margins of the gum. This can be accelerated by brushing after having acidic drinks or a diet high in acidic drinks. Try sensodyne as other people have suggested or go see a dentist for consultation. Also use a soft bristle brush and control the pressure that you brush with.

You might have been clinching your jaw try to run hard

Have your doctor check you for sinus. and use a senstive tooth paste.sensidine helps brett farve does that one ... or better yet ... call the dentist and ask if you need a check up ... my money is on sinus acting up and a little tooth sensitivity to cold air.
Reply:if u ran with your mouth a bit open then the wind that goes in can cause a little damage to your lower teeth or if u ran clutching your teeth againts each other then obviously u will have pain

Wisdom teeth pain?
is it just me? or was the most painfull part of the surgery them tightening the tournequette. hahaha. it was rubber and pulled the hair off my arm. but the needle/IV didnt hurt, and im not really in any pain, and i had all 4 wisdom teeth removed. just a little soreness in my jaw, but thats becuz the top teeth were impacted, so they had to break/cut the jawbone away. but ya, im not really taking any pain medication or anything. just penicillin to keep it from infection, and saltwater rinses to help the clots.

Reply:DON%26#039;T rinse too much though or u will get dry socket which will stay with you for a looooooong time.
Reply:You are lucky,
Generally the major source of the pain is from the subsequent infection. So if you are fairly religious about the saltwater rinces and take all of the penicillin. I did very good on my wisdom teeth as well painwise but was naughty and did not rince enough and there was a painful infection later.
Might be wise to have a couple of Advil (ibuprophen) around just in case you start to throb..at worst it will prevent losing any sleep.
good luck!

Post-extraction wisdom teeth pain?
I had my impacted, still under the gums, wisdom teeth removed exactly 2 weeks ago. I did not have any problems following the operation, in fact, I was surprised at how ok I felt (not great, but better than expected!).
That is, until today. I have had almost unbearable pain on one side of my mouth, it includes both bottom and top teeth, the pain extends along the other teeth in that side of my mouth (beginning at the extraction site) and I have some minor swelling of that side of my face.
Any ideas what this could be? Standard painkillers don%26#039;t even touch the pain, will have to see someone about it tomorrow, I suppose...cheers! Thanks for your help.

Reply:Go back to your dentist to re exmine.usually will not but unless you have foreign partical in the gum before closing the wound will cause this pain.
Reply:Could be a dry socket.
Reply:the best painkiller for tooth pain is solpedine, the soluble ones. you can also crush them up+rub them on your gums+ they`ll act as a anaesthetic for a while. it sound like mayde having your teeth out has triggered off an abcess, try get dentist today cos it`ll just get worse.
Reply:You have an infection. You need to go to your regular doctor and ask for antibiotics..dont worry about going back to the dentist. they will not be able to take a look until the infection is gone. The best antibiotic that works really well for dental infections and soft tissue infections is KEFLEX.. it is available in liquids which i find works faster than the pills. to get the liquid, just tell your doctor that you cannot open you mouth wide and you are nauseous so she will give you the liquid prescription. Also keep a spit cup handy because if you start to have a bitter/stank taste in your mouth then an abcess has popped somewhere in your mouth and you must spit. If that happens also have listerine handy to disinfect your mouth. you should also sleep on your side, not your back incase one ruptures in your sleep.
Reply:It%26#039;s probally a dry socket, go to the Dentist. They need to appy medicine to it.

Wisdom teeth pain..?
I had 2 of my wisdom teeth taken out on friday (about 4 days ago). The oral surgeon said that the bottom one was very difficult to remove because it was severly impacted. The problem that I am having now is that I am still in pain, my jaw is still swollen, and I still kind of feel numb. I had the other two out on the other side about a year ago..but I don%26#039;t remember pain like this. I went back to the oral surgeon yesterday and he told me that it was normal to be experiencing pain, but it should be slowly going away...but it really isnt. is this normal?
Wisdom teeth pain..?
You may have dry socket. If you look into your mouth, you may see a hole in your gum. Other than that I hate to say, make another appointment with your oral surgeon, or your dentist.
Reply:use an ice pack for pain relief. I would give it a few more days, if the pain does not subside by then, go back to your oral surgeon. You may have an infection brewing in there.
good luck
Reply:Sounds like dry socket, go back and see your doc.
Reply:I think it is normal, esp. if they were impacted! Thats scary though, I go get mine out next month :-(
Reply:You better go back to your surgeon and ask him about the pain you are experiencing. You are the one that suffers from the pain your wisdom teeth had brought you. Your surgeon or dentist knows better what relief or exact medication that best applies for it. You may use OraMD for your %26quot;at home%26quot; medication if there is any oral problem that bothers you.

Wisdom teeth pain - week after extraction?
I had both wisdom teeth removed from my bottom jaw, the pain was overwhelming...I returned to the oral surgeon a week after surgery. I still have slight pain on both sides. No infection but I am a smoker...Does anyone have the same experience? I%26#039;m off the antibiotics and prescribed pain killers, the only thing that is helping a little to minimize the pain is aspirin. Any advice on any other medications or remidies I should try??

Dry sockets can occur because of the smoking unfortunately. I understand the love of smoking, but you have to let this heal before smoking another one. You can do it. It will never heal if you don%26#039;t cut out the smoking for the time period your mouth needs to heal.
Reply:Hmm it could be a dry socket ask your dental sergeon!
Reply:it is the dry socket but it has nothing to do with smoking i know of people that got it and didnt smoke people that smoke and didnt get it it depends on your fluid intake and many other circumstances
Reply:Considering you%26#039;re a smoker I would definitely think you have dry sockets. I had them after I had my wisdom teeth pulled and they were AWFUL. Definitely get back to the Dr. and he will be able to treat them. Good luck.
Reply:stop smoking..use warm water with salt.....and if the pain dosnt go away...consult the dentist

Wisdom teeth pain!?
My wisdom teeth in my upper teeth have already erupted, and they are perfectly fine. But my wisdom teeth in my bottom teeth looks like they are impacted. And im feeling pain. What should l do? Im seeing the dentist march 5 so dont suggest that please. Im thinking that theyre impacted, and i want to get them removed as soon as possible because they are getting more and more sore. Im 13, if that helps.
Wisdom teeth pain!?
Take some pain meds, and try icing your jaw; and tell the dentist when you go!
Reply:definitely get them out as soon as possible. its way better to when youre young.
Reply:Listen You have to go to the dentist I just got them out and you need to get them out i left my impacted teeth in and the pain does not stop so You have to go in as soon as possible because bealive me Getting your wisdom teeth out is worth it
Reply:The dentist will hopefully take a panographic x-ray to see exactly how badly impacted you wisdom teeth are, (if they are impacted) . It%26#039;s totally up to the dentist wheather your wisdom teeth need to be extracted or not. You%26#039;re feeling discomfort right now because you%26#039;re teething just like when you were a baby and your teeth were erupting. You%26#039;re kind of young to have your 3rd molars (wisdom teeth) removed. Also, if you have the lower 3rd molars removed, your dentist might suggest removing the upper 3rd molars because upper and lower teeth need their counterparts. If you don%26#039;t have the upper 3rd molars removed, there is a possiblity of those teeth erupting further down. Good luck with everything and if possible ask to be sedated or at least have nitrous oxide along with the local.

Teeth pain! whats the best pain releiver?
my teeth always hurt i went to the dentist and nothings wrong i did get my wisdom teeth pulled then got dry socket but that over 2 months ago what is the best kind of asprin? or pain releiver
Teeth pain! whats the best pain releiver?
I have always found whole cloves to numb out any gum/tooth pain. Just take one or two and stick it in yyour mouth at the painful area and wait a few seconds and it goes numby. Get them in the spice area of the market.
For medications Vicadin is the best but very dangerous if you have to take them over a few days time.
Reply:Tramadol is what you need for Pain. Nothing works better then Tramadol. I order tramadol Online from a US licensed Pharmacy with NO prescription to Order tramadol. http://medicationtramadol.com/... . My tramadol always shows up the next day by Fedex. Get relief you need dear. Report It
Reply:Clove oil
Ibuprofen
Reply:advil extra strength.
Reply:For my teeth, Advil works. I have braces and I have gotten alot of teeth pulled. I always go to Advil
Reply:You probably grind your teeth.
The most helpful pain reliever would probably be one that is anti-inflammatory. You might want to try Motrin.
Reply:panadol gives good pain relief for toothache.aspirin is not a good pill to take over a long period of time because of side effects.perhaps your lacking something in your diet.if it continues, back to the dentist for more information.
Reply:maybe you should try some oral gel. if it works for baby%26#039;s that are teething i think it should help for the pain on your teeth.
Reply:oil of clove for tooth pain, cavite
or babys (numsit)on gums
sensidine tooth paste or that new stuff on tv for sensitive teeth
ask drugist at drugstore;;
pain pills( asperin ,excedrin,tylenol,ibrupropen,)motrim,bc,...
codiene,etc see dr
Reply:Orajel and Anbesol are the best for mouth and tooth pain. They both contain benzocaine, a local anesthetic (similar to the novocaine you get at the dentist), and you apply them directly to the site of pain so it works fast. You can also try over the counter Tylenol or ibuprofen.

Wisdome Teeth pain..?
What does wisdome teeth pain feel like? I have pain in the back of my mouth where my wisdome teeth are supposed to be but its just like swelling of the gums and kinda sore but not to bad....is that from wisdome teeth ..?
Wisdome Teeth pain..?
FYI:
Wisdom teeth are third molars that usually appear between the ages of 17 and 24 (although they may appear when older, younger, or may not appear at all). They are commonly extracted when they affect other teeth—this impaction is colloquially known as %26quot;coming in sideways.%26quot;
Wisdom teeth are an example of a vestigial structure.[1] Some argue that recent changes to softer diets which cause less wear on the teeth may be causing the third molars to be less useful, and, in fact, problematic in many humans.[1] Alternatively, it is possible that wisdom teeth were useful when it was common for humans to lose several teeth to decay by the age when they appear.[2] Most people have four wisdom teeth, but it is possible to have more or fewer. Absence of one or more wisdom teeth is an example of hypodontia. Any extra teeth are referred to as supernumerary teeth.[2][3]
Reply:well it depends on how old you are beacause you get 6 year old molers wen ur 6 12 year old molars wen ur 12 and wisdon teeth about 20-25 swelling of the gums in the back were ther supposed to be is probably them if ur the right age. if u notice somthing wrong with them u should go to the dentist many ppl hav to hav them pulled.
Reply:It sounds like your wisdom teeth are impacted (growing inwards and into something else). Most sensible people get rid of them; it%26#039;s a very common dental procedure. Talk to your dentist ASAP.

Teeth pain and heart problems, please advise!?
I have been to the dentist recently for 4 root canals. I am still experiencing alot of pain, as I need to get a few teeth removed. I am a heart patient (MVR) and therefor I cannot take pain relievers as advil, mortin, ect. I am in alot of pain. Any sugesstions?
Teeth pain and heart problems, please advise!?
Other than warm damp compresses in the painful areas on your face or jaw, I%26#039;d say your dentist should know if there is anything but make sure he knows about your heart. There%26#039;s got to be something. Ask a pharmacist also. They most times know more than a doctor because they have to stay on top of everything in the way of meds.
Good luck. Ouch! I know it hurts and I%26#039;m limited to what I can take also. Hope you can find something that works
Reply:This is a question that should only be answered by your physician (who is aware of your heart conditions, etc). You should call them Monday and ask them.
Reply:you can use prescription pain killer like vicodin and darvon, there is no reason why you cannot use the prescription pkillers,, so why don%26#039;t you call your dentist and have him call you something in
Reply:Try using cold compresses. Other than that, I would call the doctor and/or dentist and see what they recommend. I know it%26#039;s Sunday, but maybe you can call tomorrow.
Reply:The teeth may be infected. Your dentist probably needs to prescribe you some antibiotics. Reducing the size of the infection will reduce pain.

Will flouride treatment on teeth stop tooth pain?
I had 3 large fillings in my back teeth 6 weeks ago and a week after I had them done I had a lot of sharp pain on and off and they were very sensitive, hot and cold food and drink triggered the pain too.
Went back to the dentist today, he checked the fillings out and they are absolutely fine - he had to chip away some of the filling because my bite was not quite as I had wanted it. I paid £190 to have this white fillings done as my mouth has been full of mercury for years. He blew some air into the teeth and one area I had pain. He has coated all these back teeth with flouride - will this stop the pain from occurring? He said give it a couple of days. I told him I had been very run down with a nasty cold the last week and 2 weeks previous had Gastritis but am going through some difficult family situations. Could stress cause tooth pain just on its own?
Will flouride treatment on teeth stop tooth pain?
No, Fluoride is a cavity prevent or, and will not stop pain.

That%26#039;s what my dad did and things are back to normal for him. Sometimes, the irritation can be self-perpetuating... just using the Sensodyne for a while until your teeth and dental nerves calm down can fix the problem.
Aside from that... yes, time is also a major issue. Any work done on your teeth is traumatic and it%26#039;ll make things more sensitive for a period of time afterward.

Take warm water and put in some baking soda. It soothes tooth aches and helps gums too, but will not replace filling a cavity if you have something opened there.
Reply:I don%26#039;t believe fluoride will stop pain.
get yourself the sensodyne tooth paste and use it. it%26#039;s good for de-sensitizing your teeth.
meanwhile, get yourself some cloves. If you have whole ones, hold one near the tooth that is causing problems. If you have ground cloves- put a little around the tooth - but not too much as it can irratate your gums.
there are products on the market for helping numb problem teeth. If you have a local drug store, go there and check it out.
otherwise- go back to the dentist and make him look again. It could be ok in a few days like he says.
Reply:my daughter had her teeth covered in flouride after fillings to prevent further decay and thereby indirectly pain. give it a little while to see if the pain and sensitivity settle down if not u will have to go back and see him again.

Wisdom teeth pain?
A few weeks ago, the gums behind my molars started hurting for no apparent reason, so we went to our dentist. She said it wasn%26#039;t gingivitis, so she took some X-rays. As it turns out, my wisdom teeth are coming in. She was amazed since I%26#039;m only 14, but then, I%26#039;ve always gotten my teeth early and she knows this. She said they should all come in fine, thanks to some extractions and braces that I%26#039;d had done before. In the meantime, my gums are still very painful, as the teeth are taking their sweet time coming in. I have to chew very carefully, and when any millimeter of a tooth comes in (there%26#039;s only one showing so far), I can%26#039;t eat anything with spices or seasonings because of the pain. Does anyone know of a pain reliever that I can use in the place of those little refrigerator things that babies chew on when they%26#039;re teething?
Wisdom teeth pain?
Take some Advil or Motrin. You can also rinse with warm salt water 2-3x a day. Other than that you have to suck it up. Wisdom teeth hurt the most when they are coming in. They also can take years to fully come in. Good luck!
Reply:treat the pain and follow up with your dentist.

Wisdom teeth pain?
Is there anything to reduce the pain of wisdom teeth? Oddly enough, my wisdom teeth are coming out now, when I am in my thirties.
I saw my dentist couple days ago, and he said that they are coming out straight, that there is more than enough room for them, and that I should let them grow and not have surgery.y thirties. He adviced me to try OTC and natural remedies for the pain while they%26#039;re coming out. Any ideas what might alleviate the pain, besides OTC numbing drops and liquid?
It is driving me super crazy. It is not very painful, but it%26#039;s extremely annoying. The OTC anesthetics help with the pain, but they numb my whole mouth and make me drool, which is kind of bad when I am in the middle of a business meeting. Any advice would be greatly appreciate.
Wisdom teeth pain?
In addition to any topical numbing agents, consider this. Does it hurt more when you close your mouth? If so, ask your dentist to just lightly trim the sharp point off of your upper wisdom teeth. They would wear away VERY quickly if they had a tooth to bite against, but without opposing tooth contact, they just keep poking your bottom gums. This is SO easy to do and helps SO much - if that%26#039;s the problem.
Or - if they are going to come in okay, you might consider having the gum flap removed surgically to just get it over with. If your general dentist does not do this, an oral surgeon would have either an electro-surgery unit or a laser to very quickly remove the tissue. It sounds kind of gross, I know, but if I ever do this to someone on one side of their mouth and they sstart to have trouble with the other side, they call IMMEDIATELY and ask to have that side trimmed also, so it%26#039;s not that bad. §

I know it hurts a lot, be sure to put ice, even if you think you don%26#039;t need it. You will be so swollen if you don%26#039;t. I got presciption pain killers...Try Tylenol? Or Advil? Something...
Tea and Ramen Noodles helps too..
Otherwise, just lay down and watch movies. It does suck.

Reply:these are old fashioned remedies that work. try using the spice Cloves with a q-tip dip in cloves and use on tooth, for immediate relief.
Get some peroxide, and start right now rinsing you mouth with it. continue to alternate these to things and eventually this will prevent any infections
the peroxide will pull help prevent infection and the cloves will kill the pain. Good luck.

Ice directly on the gum often helps as well.

Wisdom teeth pain extraction at least a week away?
My wisdom teeth are causing me a great deal of pain on one side of my mouth. I have already spoken to a dentist, but I need a referral first. I have the exam/referral scheduled for Tuesday, and then who knows how long til they are actually pulled. One of them has a cavity because it was covered by gum for so long and I couldn%26#039;t get to the tooth to brush it. The other one on that side is coming in and is causing pain. Orajel only dulls the pain for maybe 10 minutes and 2 tablets of extra strength Tylenol only helps for about an hour. What can I do? It keeps me up at night. I finally get to sleep, but when my 10 month old wakes up, after he is taken care of, it takes me a long time to get back to sleep again because of the pain. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Wisdom teeth pain extraction at least a week away?
Wow, you must be tired. Use %26#039;Motrin%26#039; its great and recommended for inflammation anywhere in the body. The dentist can give you a higher dose then otc. Mine gave me 500mg script, when my wisdom teeth were a problem. Best to have some food or milk with that much, ok. I feel for ya, its one of the worst pains.
Reply:If you not allergic, ibuprofen works much better than Tylenol but don%26#039;t take more than 800mgs and take it with food. Usually the tablets you get over the counter are 200mg each be sure to read the bottle to see how many mg is in each pill.
Reply:I used to take at least 4, 200 milligram Advil when I was in severe pain......but, if you talk to the dental office manager you should be able to get in sooner as an emergency. I wouldn%26#039;t be that patient and wait a week in your condition.
Good luck, sweetie!
Reply:In the event of an emergency, I believe you do not have to have a referral. When my wisdom teeth were growing in, I was in excruciating pain. I called a dentist over the weekend, and he came in with a nurse at 8PM and pulled out my wisdom tooth. That%26#039;s an emergency.
Most dentists, if you call them after hours, have a number you can call to reach the dentist directly. Try that. And, I had never been to this dentist before. I called him, and he was just coming home from a skiing trip, and he drove straight to his office. Of course, I had to make a 30 minute trip to his office, but, it was WELL worth it. If you have to, call a dentist and see if he can come in for an emergency extraction.
Good luck. Wisdom teeth suck!
Reply:I had the same problem. Eventually, jaw, ear, and head aches. Worse was when it woke me up in the middle of the night. I called my dentist and told her what was happening. She told me to come in and wrote me a prescription for Ibuprofen. It really helped me make it till I could get all 4 out with the oral surgeon. They do sell lower doses at the drugstore. Ask the pharmacist there what they recommend too. Call your doc and see if they can see you sooner. If it%26#039;s infected, they%26#039;ll give you antibiotics and/or pain meds if not. Good luck!

Mouth jaw and teeth pain. no what it is?
my ex wife used to have this. turns out she was clenching her jaw and teeth in her sleep at night.
she got a custom mouth guard, made from a semi hard gel. she would put it in at night.
ask your dentist to make one for you. this will keep you from clenching your jaw at night.
also, you will need to find out why you are so uptight from your daily life, that you clench at night.
(she was just always angry, notice I said %26quot;ex-wife%26quot;)
Reply:I had similar pain, but it also flared out and made my nose hurt. It felt like I had been hit in the face with a 2x4. My doctor sent me to a dentist that specializes in TMJ. It%26#039;s the muscle in your jaw. Turns out I was clenching my jaw at night and my jaw was also slightly out of alignment. I had a itty bitty mouth guard made to wear when I sleep. It only covers your 2 top front teeth therefore preventing the grinding and clenching. I also had a guard to wear during the day to re-align the jaw. It didn%26#039;t hurt at all. I would go every week to have it adjusted. I don%26#039;t wear that one anymore, only the one for sleeping.
Reply:I think you are experiencing Temporo-mandibular Joint (TMJ)
Syndrome. People with this disorder suffer headaches, ear, neck, jaw and shoulder pain in extreme cases. This problem is related to the jaw joint. The TMJ connects the lower jaw to the skull under your ear; which probably why you have earaches. Grinding of your teeth at night is also an indication why you are experiencing this pain. I don%26#039;t know why your gums are flared up, maybe because the mouth guard is not fitting your mouth correctly. Having problems with a jaw that locks in position or difficult to open, problems biting, and popping sounds when you bite are all symptoms of TMJ Syndrome. When you are mad, frowning, quiet, emotionally distraught, concentrating; anything that would intensify your muscles, do you notice usually your mouth is completely closed and your teeth clenched together? Try to relax your teeth from clenching your jaw. Some people have that habit.
Usually, your dentist would refer you to a Periodontal Surgeon for treatment. val

Wisdom teeth pain and smoking?
I just started experiencing pain in the back of my mouth from my wisdom teeth. Thankfully I%26#039;m getting them out in a few weeks. The pain isn%26#039;t unbareable it%26#039;s just a constant dull pain on the side of my face. I was wondering if smoking could aggrivate my mouth and make the pain worse. I know smoking is bad, that%26#039;s not my question. My question is can smoking irritate my wisdom teeth pain that isn%26#039;t from surgery, just from them growing in or whatever?
Wisdom teeth pain and smoking?
To the best of my knowledge, no. However, when you get them pulled, you will need to go for several days without smoking or you will get dry-socket and experience some of the worst pain of your life. This can happen from even one cig. Some dentists will tell you 24-48 hours; you should abstain for longer. Sorry if you already knew about this, but I felt the need to give out a warning.
Of course, if you feel as though smoking (or anything else) is causing you pain issues, you should cut back for little while on principle.
p.s. You may want to try for sooner than a few weeks... it may only be a dull pain now, but it tends to get worse.
Good luck
Reply:yes
Reply:Yup sure can.
Reply:Wisdom teeth that have erupted and are visible are more suseptible to cavities, and since they are way back there, they are harder to brush too. By smoking, you may be aggravating the nerves when you take deep breathes in and out. Try to limit your smoking until you can be seen professionally by a dentist.

Can someone plz explain about this teeth/tooth pain i have as i dont understand something?
Right, first of all i have like a throbbing dull pain on the right side of my teeth, some say its an infection but isnt an infection like sharp pain to one tooth or teeth and very sensative? this dull pain i have right now is like all my right side teeth are in dull pain, can this also be an infection? it cud be referrered pain but referred pain is not an infection right? but exposing of nerve right? i cant exactly tell which tooth it is, it cud be right wisdom tooth or could be a molar, but this is not an infection right? if it is then isnt infection like i said you can feel sharp pain on on a tooth? thanks.

Been to a dentist? Had x-rays? You may need a root canal done. Is it sensitive to hot or cold? See a dentist.
Reply:go to a dentist and have them look at it.
Reply:I saw your other dental question 2. R u afraid of the dentist?
Its ok cuz lots of people are, but ask around for referrals to find a nice/gentle one or try that 1-800-dentist thing or call
your insurance company %26amp; ask who you can go to. If insurance and/or $ is the problem, try finding a dental clinic
or a low cost place that will let you make payments or
something cuz your teeth are super important %26amp; can even affect your health!

Wisdom Teeth Pain?
I need my wisdom teeth out (all 4 and I am a 27 yr old female). But right now I can%26#039;t afford it. $1200.00 to get them out. So over the past 2 weeks I have had alot of pain in my lower right tooth and jaw!!! And I mean pain!!!
Last night before bed I tool 3 tylonol and 2 ibuprophine and nothing..the pain was still there.
At this moment I can%26#039;t afford a dentist now either.
I was wondering if I would look like a fool going to the ER for this? Can they help me there?
My co-work says that I should watch for infection. (she thinks I am swollen).
I am Canadian and was wondering if I can still get some sort of insurance to have this surgury done? Or is it to late cuz I was diagnosed already?
Please help me!!! SO MUCH PAIN!!! I have already lost alot of sleep cuz of pain and have a hard time to eat cuz of pain!!
Thanx
Wisdom Teeth Pain?
The ER can give you a prescription for pain, but you will have to pay for that and the ER bill is outrageous!! I went in for pain and I ended up paying $1200 for the visit!
The dentist might work with you on payment arrangements if you ask. They might even write a prescription for you since they know the problem. It would be in your best interest to call and ask them.
Reply:if you go to the emergency room the only way they will help you is if you have an infection and have to have them removed right then and there. otherwise, they will give you strong stuff for the pain and tell you to see a dentist (that%26#039;s what happened to me). to help with the pain, get some orajel. even baby orajel (nighttime) works really well. you just rub a little on the gum and it helps. eat soft food and most importantly, try to get some money to see a dentist. insurance should cover you. i am so sorry! i know it sucks and hurts so bad. good luck.
Reply:There is this dental credit card. You have to have good credit...but you use it just like a credit card you just have monthly charge. You should look into it. The longer you wait the more problems that this causes. Sorry that you are in pain!

Very Mild tooth pain with Wisdom Teeth...?
I%26#039;m 14 years old, I am currently growing 3 of my wisdom teeth. On the bottom left of my mouth, I have a wisdom tooth almost finished growing. Sometimes on some of my other teeth, (the two molars beside it) I have very mild tooth pain and it comes and goes and does not last very long. No severe pain. I also have some pain in my neck sometimes. Could this be a cavity or just normal wisdom teeth growth? If it is a cavity, do I need a filling or root cannal because it is just very mild pain.
Thank You!
Very Mild tooth pain with Wisdom Teeth...?
You should go to a dentist and have this evaluated. It sounds like you probably should have your wisdom teeth removed, but it is impossible to say for sure without seeing it. Don%26#039;t wait on it -- it could get worse. If it is a cavity, great, but if you leave it and don%26#039;t do anything about it, it WILL need a root canal. Take care.

Can tooth pain radiate to other teeth??
I had a cavity filled in an upper molar 2 months ago. The cavity was near the root, between two molars. It troubled me before it was filled but the pain afterwards was much worse!
Now, 2 months later I%26#039;m still in pain. Drinking something hot is painful, the pain lingers for several minutes. I%26#039;m pretty sure I will need a root canal. But now, other molars on the same side of the mouth are starting to hurt. Even some in my lower jaw!
Do I need the dentist check these molars out or can the pain from the infected tooth radiate to other teeth?
Two of the other molars that are bothering me are wisdom teeth. They are completely erupted and have been there for almost 15 years. Therefore, according to my dentist, it is not possible that they will play up now? Is this true? They have no cavities or fillings, yet they hurt (a lot)! Or is this referred pain?
(Please forgive me if my English is not always correct, I am not a native speaker).
Can tooth pain radiate to other teeth??
Yes, you are correct, this is called referred pain ( to some extent) The nerve that supplies blood to the tooth that is giving you grief also supplies the blood to the adjacent teeth as well. If that tooth is sensitive to hot and it is lingering, chances are really good you will need to have a root canal.
You can try some Sensodyne toothpaste. Rub a thin layer on the area that is giving you the grief and let it sit, don%26#039;t rinse it off. It is best to try this at night before you go to bed. It may not help, but anything is worth a try.
Do you have any other areas of recession? This can also cause sensitivity to the teeth in the same area or other areas, but yes, referred pain can affect not only the teeth in the same quadrant but also the opposing quadrant (upper and lower teeth).
Good luck, and your English is better than mine and I have lived here all my life :o)
Reply:Better check with the dentist. Layman%26#039;s opinions are worthless.
Reply:the nerves in the teeth are inter-linked. You may feel pain in one tooth but it is the tooth beside it that is actually defective. Trust me.....I have had this happen. This is why it can seem like the pain is spreading. Just get your dentist to look at them all using x-rays as well as a viual inspection. It sounds like that first tooth was not fixed 100%
Reply:Yes the pain can radiate to other teeth I had a tooth on top that need a root canal and the pain from that tooth was even radiating to my lower jaw and after I had the root canal all of the pain went away.
Reply:yes it can its what they call reffered pain coz it really depends on the nerve supply to that tooth look at it like this one nerve can supply like 4 teeth so 1 may pain but the others will feel it so referred pain
Reply:Definitely get your wisdom teeth pulled. I had all four of mine pulled at once. The wisdom teeth were pushing all my teeth together and giving me headaches. You probably have an infection in your molars. But this time, I would go to a different dentist.
Reply:Hmmm... I strongly recommend you to order an absolutely free an anaesthetic on http://rds.Yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geu8RcRwVHpn... - (find there a special offers)

MJ/TMD and Teeth Pain....Common?
I have been recently diagnosed with TMD/TMJ due to a lifetime of grinding and clenching. On top of that I had a recent root canal done and I am wearing a temporary crown. The pain from the tooth has caused me to grind up against the temp crown tooth and that whole area of teeth has been experiencing nerve pain, in on, and around the teeth, as well as the jaw and ear, all nerve-type pain. I currently take 600-800mg of Advil (Ibuprofen) and 1/2 - 1 whole Fioricet for the pain. (I ran out of Vicodin for the tooth canal.) I have not been in such sharp pain in a really long time, and I wanted to know if this nerve type of pain was a common type of pain for TMJ disorders?
MJ/TMD and Teeth Pain....Common?
this is a common pain. I had tmj due to my wisdom teeth growing in sideways. I used a night guard at night and it worked wonders. I wouldnt grind my teeth or clench them. If i were you i would start using one. the pain will go away
Reply:Hello, given the information you have thus far provided it sounds as though no dental professional zeroed in on the real problem, which by the way isn%26#039;t unusual...most and I mean most dental professionals don%26#039;t catch on to what I%26#039;m about to tell you. From the personal history you provided, in the past you have been treated for the %26quot;symptom%26quot; not the actual cause of your gritting and grinding. Gritting and grinding can certainly cause a variety of problems with teeth and the jaw joint, but the cause of your gritting and grinding is most likely a %26quot;Stress%26quot; issue....I call it EDS..and that applies even id you have all your teeth,EDS in my speciality means Emotional Denture Stress, but like I said the same issues and symptoms apply even if you have all you teeth. So, I%26#039;ll add to this my information page to explain EDS..and you can see how it affects you.

EMOTIONAL DENTURE STRESS

The number of denture wearers who suffer from (EDS), Emotional Denture Stress
is far greater than those in the dental profession realize. Even today many dental
professionals do not recognize (EDS) or know what to do about it when they do figure out
that something emotional is affecting the patient.
(EDS) is usually exhibited by one or more of several different symptoms. The most
common symptoms are red rash gum tissue, sore spots, loss of gum bone, fatty gum tissue,
loose dentures. Not every symptom is the results of a patient suffering (EDS), but almost
every patient who is suffering from (EDS) will have most all of the symptoms.
(EDS), Emotional Denture Stress is created by problems related to one of the
following areas. Health, Marriage, Employment, Money, Sex and Self Esteem. Let me give
you some examples of (EDS) in some of those areas.
It may be that the patient has a very close loved one who has a terminal illness and
because of that they stay very emotionally affected...A health problem doesn’t have to be
one that affects the patient personally.
It could be that the patient really dislikes where they work or someone they work
with and when it’s time to go to work they begin to get up tight emotionally. It could be
that a patient is dealing with the fact that they or someone close to them is in sever financial
striates and any number of situations could exist that is sexual in nature. Then of coarse
you have the patient who has great concern as to their own feelings of being a worthwhile
person....that could be due to abuse from a spouse, family member or friends. In any event
dealing with one or more of the above mentioned situations can cause a great deal of
problems for a denture wearer.
This is how it works.....let’s look at it as though it were a large clock on the wall.
Let’s say that you get up in the morning and what ever it is that causes your stress to start
up begins. We call that 12:00 on the stress clock. Between 12:00 and 3:00 on the stress clock
(which could be hours or even days) the stress you feel causes you to clinch your teeth
together, over and over and over. Between 3:00 and 6:00 on the stress clock the pressure
from clinching or grinding presses the denture into the gum tissue and that pressure forces
the fluid in the gum tissues to be squeezed out and into the floor of the mouth. Between
6:00 and 9:00 the pressing of the denture into the gums had forced the tissue fluids out and
the gums shrink making the denture loose. The lack of tissue fluids allows the tissue to be
forced against the hard denture on one side and the hard bone on the other. This constant
pressure causes sore spots and eventually bone shrinkage..
NOW....when the shrinkage, sore spots and looseness gets to be to much the patient
shows up for treatment of those conditions at the dental professionals office. Between 9:00
and 12:00 on the Stress Clock the dental professional trys a number of treatment plans to
restore the patients dentures to painless well functioning dental appliances......HOWEVER,
if the true cause of the (EDS) is not discovered and dealt with, the Stress Clock will begin
ticking again and all the same old problems will return or stay as is.....What’s more, there
is “no” dental treatment plan or service that can over come the affects of “Emotional
Denture Stress”.
It’s very sad to have a patient that can’t be helped due to the fact hat they suffer
from (EDS) and either doesn’t know it or doesn’t have the courage to deal with it. I’ve seen
a number of patients who found out about their (EDS) through getting their first dentures
and through realizing it existed took steps to correct the issues, in some cases it took
professional counseling. Then there were those who through conversations on a private
basis realized they needed professional help but didn’t have the courage to seek it out,
usually those were abuse or drug related situations.
The bottom line is that any dental professional worth his or her salt should be able
to recognize they are dealing with a person suffering from (EDS) and after realizing what is
going on should be very straight forward with the patient and explain what their options
are.....and the bottom most line is that unresolved “EDS” Emotional Denture Stress creates
denture problems that “NO” dental professional can overcome by adjusting, grinding,
relining or even replacing the denture.......you can’t cure a disease by covering up the
symptom.

Reply:Not sure if you%26#039;ve had the temporary crown adjusted since it was placed. The root canal itself will hurt some until it heals, but sharp pain is generally a sign that the entire nerve wasn%26#039;t removed.
I don%26#039;t know which order the THD/root canal are in, but i%26#039;d definitely make an appointment with the dentist that did the root canal and temporary crown and discuss the matter. It could be as simple as adjusting the crown, or it could require more endodontic treatment.
