Wisdom teeth pain - week after extraction?

I had both wisdom teeth removed from my bottom jaw, the pain was overwhelming...I returned to the oral surgeon a week after surgery. I still have slight pain on both sides. No infection but I am a smoker...Does anyone have the same experience? I%26#039;m off the antibiotics and prescribed pain killers, the only thing that is helping a little to minimize the pain is aspirin. Any advice on any other medications or remidies I should try??

Dry sockets can occur because of the smoking unfortunately. I understand the love of smoking, but you have to let this heal before smoking another one. You can do it. It will never heal if you don%26#039;t cut out the smoking for the time period your mouth needs to heal.
Reply:Hmm it could be a dry socket ask your dental sergeon!
Reply:it is the dry socket but it has nothing to do with smoking i know of people that got it and didnt smoke people that smoke and didnt get it it depends on your fluid intake and many other circumstances
Reply:Considering you%26#039;re a smoker I would definitely think you have dry sockets. I had them after I had my wisdom teeth pulled and they were AWFUL. Definitely get back to the Dr. and he will be able to treat them. Good luck.
Reply:stop smoking..use warm water with salt.....and if the pain dosnt go away...consult the dentist
