I had 3 large fillings in my back teeth 6 weeks ago and a week after I had them done I had a lot of sharp pain on and off and they were very sensitive, hot and cold food and drink triggered the pain too.
Went back to the dentist today, he checked the fillings out and they are absolutely fine - he had to chip away some of the filling because my bite was not quite as I had wanted it. I paid £190 to have this white fillings done as my mouth has been full of mercury for years. He blew some air into the teeth and one area I had pain. He has coated all these back teeth with flouride - will this stop the pain from occurring? He said give it a couple of days. I told him I had been very run down with a nasty cold the last week and 2 weeks previous had Gastritis but am going through some difficult family situations. Could stress cause tooth pain just on its own?
Will flouride treatment on teeth stop tooth pain?
No, Fluoride is a cavity prevent or, and will not stop pain.

Reply:My dad had his old fillings removed and replaced with white ones and had this same problem... sometimes, the pain will go away, but if not, you could try Sensodyne toothpaste.
That%26#039;s what my dad did and things are back to normal for him. Sometimes, the irritation can be self-perpetuating... just using the Sensodyne for a while until your teeth and dental nerves calm down can fix the problem.
Aside from that... yes, time is also a major issue. Any work done on your teeth is traumatic and it%26#039;ll make things more sensitive for a period of time afterward.
Reply:A COUPLE OF DAYS
fcuk that, change your dentist.............use some strong mouthwash and take some painkillers,
no your teeth shouldnt hurt AFTER a visit to the dentist
Reply:NO
Reply:What has been tried in my family for generations and really works to sooth teeth is baking soda.
Take warm water and put in some baking soda. It soothes tooth aches and helps gums too, but will not replace filling a cavity if you have something opened there.
Reply:I don%26#039;t believe fluoride will stop pain.
get yourself the sensodyne tooth paste and use it. it%26#039;s good for de-sensitizing your teeth.
meanwhile, get yourself some cloves. If you have whole ones, hold one near the tooth that is causing problems. If you have ground cloves- put a little around the tooth - but not too much as it can irratate your gums.
there are products on the market for helping numb problem teeth. If you have a local drug store, go there and check it out.
otherwise- go back to the dentist and make him look again. It could be ok in a few days like he says.
Reply:my daughter had her teeth covered in flouride after fillings to prevent further decay and thereby indirectly pain. give it a little while to see if the pain and sensitivity settle down if not u will have to go back and see him again.
