Teeth/Jaw pain more than a week after removal of two wisdom teeth.?

The hole in my back tooth is closing up gradually, but the 2 or 3 teeth right next to the pulled tooth hurts when I bite down %26amp; it seems like the whole jaw hurts some. It sometimes even seems to hurt up to the ear %26amp; down my neck!

It's not like it hurts too bad. It's just that I expected day 8 to hurt less than day 2!

I've been taking my anti-biotics.

Is this normal?

Teeth/Jaw pain more than a week after removal of two wisdom teeth.?
perhaps the tooth that was extracted took the grunt of all your forces. now that it is gone, the teeth in front of it are now doing all the work.

Or... there can be other problems (cavities) or occlusion or alignment problem

Sometimes, it is hard to explain and will go away on its own.

Reply:Every person is different, but don't forget that the wisdom teeth are in the bone, that is why they hurt more when either coming down or being extracted. The dentist should have given you some mild pain killers too. If they didn't then ask the chemist for a mild preparation with paracetamol and codeine in it. It is not really recommended to have aspirin as this will thin the blood and you may start bleeding again if the hole is still open. If it has closed completely then aspirin will dramatically improve the pain because of it's blood thinning qualities as it will allow the blood to flow more freely around the site of extraction.

If the pain is excruciating, then try these few things too....

rub the thumb on the same side as where the tooth was removed, swill some Listerine around the area, apply ome bonjela, gargle some apple cider vinegar, warm salty water or Chlorohexedine. Apply a heat or cold pack, whichever feels the best.

If the pain still persists, then I would suggest going back to the dentist just to make sure that all is fine.

Hope this helps and have a great day/night!!!

Reply:HELLO,

NEVER, EVER TAKE ASPIRIN AFTER A TOOTH EXTRACTION. ASPIRIN IS A BLOOD THINNER AND THE LAST THING YOU NEED WITH AN EXTRACTIONS A BLOOD THINNER. SINCE BEEN SOME TIME AFTER THE EXTRACTIONS YOU NEED WARM MOIST HEAT APPLIED TO THE JAW WHERE IT HURTS AS WELL AS IBUPROFEN (AKA, ADVIL) FOR THE SWELLING.
Reply:Only have your wisdom teeth removed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeron. There are many complications of wisdom teeth surgery, and to find out more on complications and oral surgery go to http://www.dentalimplantsaustralia.com/
