I got my wisdom teeth pulled(2 of the 5 on just one side) abotu 3 weeks ago. I recently been haveing sharp pain originating from that area up to the top of my head. And it takes a couple minutes to pass. It also feels as if I have a cavitity there. I have holes where the wisdom teeth where, are those called dry sockets? Will they fill up eventually? Is the pain my teeth settling in there new position. The dentist told me it would take awhile for my teeth to heal do to my age (26) is this true also?
I recently got 2 of my 5 wisdom teeth pulled on the same side of my mouth, I'm still in some pain?
i had dry socket when they had to impact my wisdom teeth... the reason i knew i had it was b/c the drugs they gave me stopped working... i was still in so much pain even though i was taking vicodin... then i ran out of that and was literally having to take 800mg of ibuprofen every 4 hours... it's best to go back and have them thoroughly clean your sockets... for me they put oil of clove strips in the sockets so i wouldn't feel the pain while they healed...
Reply:Okay... why do you have 5 wisdom teeth?
Most "normals" have 4... Two on the left, and two on the right.
You have holes where they had been, cause they were removed.
If you aren't CAREFUL, they CAN become dry sockets, which you do NOT want. Yes, they will "fill up".
Since it's been 3 weeks, call you dentist and demand another appointment and tell him what is going on.
Do you smoke? Have you been eating and drinking hot foods?
EDIT~~ Pinky... I do not think they "impacted your wisdom teeth" I think you meant they REMOVED your impacted wisdom teeth.
Reply:hhhhhhmmmmmmmmm I thought we only had 4 wisdom teeth
Reply:You could have a dry socket, you should go see your dentist if it is a dry socket it can be packed with some medication that will make it feel much better. It does take awhile for the socket to heal and completely close, since you are still having pain you should go get checked out.
