Wisdom teeth PAIN!?
Gargle %26amp; swill your mouth with salt water - tastes disgusting but it will get rid of infection (spit it out though - don't swallow).

Go to the doctors and get some prescription painkillers. Just because it's teeth, you can still get them if you have to wait for the dentist.

Plus, plead with your dentist to fit you in - or call you if there is a cancellation - although I'm sure you've done this!
Reply:Get a satsuma a small one separate the segments and pop them in the freezer once frozen take one segment out and place it at the back of your jaw (top and bottom) it should fit in there snugly and numb pain
Reply:I feel sorry for you, I am feeling the same, go to the denist, i lelf it a week and it only gets worse. He gave me penasillin and the pain went within a day. Your gums might be infected, Sorry about your pain. Get well sone.
Reply:I dont know if this will help but a dentist told me once to use oil of clove or just powdered clove mixed with water to a paste. Rub it along your gums and tooth with your finger , or put some on cotton and place on it , or sometimes I carry a cotton swab with some on it in case it acts up later. Good luck and I hope it helps. Ps I like it better than orajel but it tastes nasty at first but it sure helps. I dont like clove anyway, LOL
Reply:cannabis works good for pain relief, I got 2 wisdom tooth coming out. it works.
Reply:Depends what the pain is from really - if it is the teeth breaking through then try something like Bonjela.

Last time I had problems with my wisdom teeth I actually found that swilling a small amount of spirit (whisky for example) around the painful area helped immensely!

Why on earth do you have to wait so long to see a dentist if you are in pain though - personally, I would be camping out on his doorstep!
Reply:The best day of my life was when i had my wisdom teeth out, i feel for you. i used co codamol from dr and a hot water bottle on my face. hope u feel well soon.
Reply:Try oil of cloves, it numbs the pain. You can buy it from the chemist
Reply:OUCH! I know how you're feeling. My wisdom teeth were bothering me there a few weeks ago. I used Anbesol, you can get it without prescription in any chemist. just put some on cotton wool (or a cotton bud) and rub it around the gum. Definitely worth a try.

I couldn't get to the dentist either, in fact the earliest appointment he could give me is still 2 weeks away, but the pain is gone now. Don't worry I know the pain is really bad, but it usually does go away after a week or two. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Reply:i drank hot drinks , put my face next to the gas hob and fire. i found anything with heat helped
Reply:The best painkiller for tooth pain is Ibuprofen. The maximum dosage for Ibuprofen, or ibuprofen containing drugs such as Nurofen is 600mg( Be Careful Not To Take An Overdose!!!). If your teeth are hurting after you've taken that much ibuprofen there's not alot you can do. You can always ask to be seen by an emergency dentist. You can get the number for your nearest emergency dentist from NHS direct. Their number is 0845 46 47. The only really good herbal remedy I know of is to put a clove on the gum, but this only gives a very temporary relief.
Reply:Hello,

(ANS) Try Bonjella which you can buy over the counter from any pharmacy or local chemist. It comes as a small tube of clear Jell, you can apply it safely %26amp; directly to the area of worst pain. Bonjella contains a low level anesthetic %26amp; pain killer so it tends to numb out the worst pain. But it only lasts about 30-40mins its NOT a long term solution to the problem obviously but it might be enough to see you through until your dental appointment?

**If pain killers are NOT touching the pain then it sounds abit more urgent than just having to wait x2 weeks for the next appointment.

**I guess if things become unbearable you have a few other options open to you:-

a) Pay for a private %26amp; emergency dental appointment, which means you could be seen within 24/48hrs so you would be pain free more quickly. The downside is thats obviously going to be expensive given that few NHS dentists exist any more %26amp; that to treat you in an emergency would also cost more than if it was a normal booked appointment. I cannot see you having much change from £50 in this instance?

b) Find stronger pain killers if thats possible?, you can take up to x8 paracetamol's within any 24hr period safely.

c) You could present yourself as an emergency voluntary patient at your nearest dental hospital if there is one within reasonable traveling distance.

Hope that's of use? hope you can be seen more quickly

Best Regards Ivan
Reply:Don't put up with it any longer than you have to. I had both my lower ones removed at the same time about three years ago. Best thing I ever did. I was charged £300 for the privalige but I have been pain free ever since. You most probably have an abscess, reeally painful. Try using an anti-bacterial mouth wash or a warm salt solution to kill any infection and dissolvable asprin sluiced around your mouth to reduce inflamation and kill pain on site.

Reply:Call your dentist and see if he will prescribe a stronger pain pill till you can get in there. When I got my wisdom out and got dry sockets they used oil of clove for that pain.
Reply:all the sympathy in the world pal, toothache is horrific (the hell of all diseases, Burns). try anidin extra they worked for me. be careful you don't take too many
Reply:Sounds to me you have got an infection around the wisdom tooth, you need antibiotics - metronidazole which is prescribed by doctor / dentist.

In the meantime Hot Salt Mouthwashes (spitting out) and gentle toothbrushing to keep the area clean. You can get an interspace brush from a chemist which has a small head of bristles for easier manoevering in mouth.

Painkillers Paracetamol 500mg every six hours with Ibuprofen 400mg every 6 hours in between the paracetamol is the best regime.

Get yourself the antibiotics as soon as you can
Reply:They do make a tooth ache pain killer that's kind of a thick liquid.

When I was a kid, my mother would give me a baby asprin and have me put it on the tooth and slightly bite down to hold it there.
Reply:i have been having trouble with my wisdom teeth a few months now and i use anbesol or bonjela and take over the couter pain killers as im awaiting to have them all removed if all else fails wait till yr dentist closes and fone an emergency dentist and they will c u tht nite......

hope u feel better soon x
